Previously, when filing applications with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency would communicate relevant changes in immigration status with the Social Security Administration (SSA). It was recently announced that USCIS will no longer be communicating with the SSA for the issuance of social security numbers or cards after approval of immigration benefits. Individuals will need to apply directly with the SSA to have their social security numbers assigned and/or updated cards issued. Please see Social Security number & card | SSA for additional information. If you have any questions or need assistance regarding your Social Security card, please contact us here.
