The beginning of a New Year brings the promise of fresh starts and opportunities to reflect on the past year. As we look forward to the challenges and rewards that lie ahead in 2025, we want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all who have helped make 2024 a success. Last year our firm experienced growth which allowed us to strengthen our relationships with our clients and build even stronger ties to our community. Join us in looking back on 2024 as we look forward to, and prepare for, the future.
Throughout 2024, Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC was proud to be a part of a coalition that included nonprofit organizations, private attorneys, and representatives from City, State and Federal government agencies that worked together to address an unprecedented surge in our immigrant population in the State of Illinois. For more than 12 months, our staff worked to establish and participate in workshops that screened recently arrived immigrants for immigration benefits, including the preparation and submission of employment authorization applications (“EAD”) and Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”) applications.
Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC was pleased to be a part of this program, dedicating time and resources to coordinate the workshops and prepare applications. Through this program, our staff provided expertise and services that enabled our new neighbors to access and understand a complex and confusing immigration system. We were happy to contribute to our community and empower thousands of individuals to navigate the complexities of the immigration system.
By midyear, we were delighted to learn that our co-founders would both be recognized and honored for their expertise and commitment to advancing the rights of immigrants.
In June, Marta Delgado was the recipient of the 2024 Elisabeth S. “Lisa” Brodyaga Award given by the National Immigration Project. The National Immigration Project (NIP) is a membership organization of attorneys, advocates, and community members who litigate, advocate, educate, and build bridges across movements to ensure that those most impacted by the immigration and criminal systems are supported. Each year, the NIP honors a person who has upheld the legacy and tireless advocacy of Elisabeth “Lisa” Brodyaga, a longtime member of the NIP whose career spanned 40 years fighting for immigrant rights.
Marta Delgado was recognized for her tireless and determined advocacy on behalf of immigrants. Throughout her legal career, Marta has worked as an immigration attorney and has been an active member in her community, serving on the boards of many community-based organizations around Chicago. We could not think of an individual more deserving of this award than Marta. We are proud to call her a mentor, colleague, and friend, and are honored to stand beside her in the fight for immigrants’ rights. Congratulations, Marta!
2024 also brought deserved recognition to our esteemed colleague, Elizabeth Rompf Bruen, who was elected by her peers during the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) annual conference to serve as an Elected Director on the AILA Board of Governors. She also received a President’s Commendation award for exemplary service to the President of AILA at that same event.
AILA is a bar association comprised of over 17,000 immigration attorneys throughout the world that endeavors to build relationships with federal agencies involved in the immigration process, provide guidance to state and federal government officials on immigration policies, and create an educational network where its members can stay apprised of the most up-to-date information in the ever-changing immigration law landscape.
Elizabeth looks forward to utilizing her background in the nonprofit and private sectors to serve AILA’s membership and expand on the work she did in Chicago during her term on AILA Chicago’s Executive Board. Our firm is confident that Elizabeth’s determination and steadfast insistence on a brighter future for all will benefit not only AILA’s members, but also the immigrants AILA aims to protect.
In December, Elizabeth was also honored to receive the AILA Chicago Chapter’s Minsky Beacon of Light Award. This award honors attorneys for their advocacy and mentorship activities. Elizabeth’s dedication to fostering, guiding, and empowering future generations of immigrant rights advocates and leaders has not gone unnoticed, and we are proud to stand by her side to continue fighting for our clients and immigrants’ rights throughout the United States.
As we look forward to the year ahead, we reaffirm our commitment to you and to our community. Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC will persist in its tireless advocacy in the fight for immigrants’ rights and against injustice. We will be here as a resource to keep you updated on the ever-changing landscape of immigration law. We will be here, ready to face the challenges as they come and celebrate the successes that await us in 2025.
We wish you all a happy new year and we look forward to continuing our work with you in the year to come.
